Trial stalls at 'You need to define a site' This is the same problem as Dave Taylor's post "Looking For Me To Define A Site?" but I have been unable to add to his entry (forum will not accept my reply "please insert more than 2 characters when I have entered many)
Removed and re-installed the extension but still get the message 'Need to define a site'. I have tried both new site definition and using an existing site.

Hello guys,
If you already have a site created, remember that you have to save the html file inside that site in order to use FlexiPanels. So, the workflow is as this, create a new site, create a new html file, save it inside the root folder of the site, insert FlexiPanels.
Regards,
Andrei

Hi Andrei and thanks for the reply.
I had saved a file but still received the message.
I have since removed and reinstalled the extension and things progressed further until I tried to click the 'Trial' button. This was not accepted until I had cloes and reopened DW a couple of time - so something funny was going on.
I now have access to the trial...and I'm trying it!

Hi Bob,
The trial problem has been solved with the last Friday release. Please re-download the package from the site.

I am having the same problem as Bob. I have a trial version and after creating a new site and saving it, I receive the "you need to create a new site for the component to work" The site is saved in the root folder. Any ideas on what I can do?

Hello,
Have you tried our Getting started tutorial?
Here's a link to it: http://www.extendstudio.com/documentation/flexi-panels-css/documentation/docs/default-panels-gallery.html

I think the problem is with Adobe. I have read a post somewhere which acknowledges the problem. Not sure if it's CS4 or Windows 7 , but no fix yet.
In the meantime try selecting a lower level folder (i.e within the site) - if there isn't on e creaet one and select that. DW seems to select one level above where you tell it to!

Hello,
When you create a website you need to insert manually the path to the 'local folder' instead of using the browse feature in order to avoid the bug mentioned above.
Do you have other problems with the extension?

I've purchased the flexipanels, so am not using the test version. I get this message and I've tried everything. I've even deleted the whole site, recreated it, and typed in the root folder path. However, I keep getting two error messages:
1. images folder is not inside the root folder (but it IS); and
2. You need to define a site for the component to work.
I have gone as far as creating a new page in a website that is live and working (so i KNOW the site is defined) but I still get this message. Not sure what to do now.... It was working yesterday, but I updated CS4 from Adobe updater and it hasn't worked since.

I'm still not sure if this an Adobe or a Windows issue. I have this problem using Windows7.
My way around it is to create a subfolder in the site folder (e.g 'newfolder' within 'sitefolder') and to select that as the site fodler in DW. The browsing dialogue will say 'sitefolder' selected.
I experience this problem whether or not I am using the extend Studio extension ...so I don't think it's their fault.

Man this gets even worse. I've uninstalled the extension and now all the insert panel is grayed out in DW. I cannot even insert an email link. I think I'm going to have to reinstall Dreamweaver.

Hi,
Could you please make screenshots on how you have setup the local site/remote site/testing site in Dreamweaver at support@extendstudio.com?
Thanks,
Cristian

Hi
I am experiencing the same problem, I can't proceed from "You need to define a site for a component to work." Please can you make a tutorial or tell me (and others) the step by step procedure for setting up the local site in DW?
Also, when choosing a background image, the same issue manifests as it won't recognize the root folder that I am directing it to in "browse"!!
If I can't get beyond this issue, the product is hardly worth buying, which is a shame as I would like to try it before buying it. Please help :)

Hello Gary,
Here's a tutorial that shows you how to define a site in Dreamweaver: http://www.extendstudio.com/documentation/creative-dw-dropdown-menu/documentation/tutorials/how-to-create-a-website.html
Using sites in Dreamweaver helps you to structure and maintain your pages easier. Plus, our extension will now this way where is the root of your website located so it can automatically insert the links to necessary files.

Andrei Rinciog

I'm still sure this is a windows issue. (I use Dweaver CS4 on Win7)
My solution is to add a new folder under the root folder when defining the site - Dweaver/Win takes this as meaning the root folder - one extra click!
