That's probably the wrong subject line, but the best I could come up with at the moment.
Anyway, here's the deal; I'm sure others must have come across this..

I'm in a two computer environment.
I designed a page in dreamweaver using flexipanel on my desktop PC and uploaded it to my server.
So far so good. Everything looks fine.

On my second computer (a laptop), I downloaded the page I created on my desktop PC, along with all the flexipanel assets.

However, when I open this page on my laptop in dreamweaver, I can't edit the contents of the panel.

Regardless of what part of the flexipanel I select, in either design or code view, I don't have the flexipanel edit options in the property inspector.

I can create a new panel if I want, but I can't edit an existing panel created from a different computer.

It's almost like the laptop doesn't "know" that there's a flexipanel on the page.

The page renders correctly in dreamweaver "live view", and I downloaded all the files from the /includes/CSSPanels/ folder from my server to my laptop, so tI believe I've got all the assets.

So: Is there a trick in creating a flexipanel on one computer, and editing it on a second computer?

On a somewhat related question, by default, Flexipanel creates an /includes/ folder in the root folder of a defined site.
If I grab that folder and move it, flexipanel loses reference to the images.

Do I need to hunt down all the img references by hand and update? That seems like a lot of trouble, when I only want to move the location of the flexipanel asset folder.

Or is there a trick to doing this?

Any advice or suggestions appreciated.

Hello Brad,

First of all, I think that you should check if you have the same version of FlexiPanels installed on both computers. Also, do you have the website defined in Dreamweaver on the laptop?

You shouldn't move the "includes" folder after you've started to create Panels. However, I think Dreamweaver should update the links automatically but if doesn't you will have to this yourself. Search and replace all img references, maybe? An easier way would be to define the site root directly in the folder you want the "includes" folder and the rest of the pages to be in. You can define a site inside another.

Hi Andrei -

Flexipanel 1.20 is installed on both the desktop and the laptop, and the website is defined identically on both the desktop and laptop environments.

Just out of curiosity, have you been able to create a flexipanel on one computer, and edit it on a second PC?

Thanks for the tips on updating the 'includes' folder; I'll ~try~ to keep the folder in its default location.

That would be a nice 'feature request' for a dot release - the ability to set the default location of the /includes/ folder, rather then having the system decide for me.

Any other tips on editing flexipanels on multiple computers?

Hey Brad I don't know if it's related to your problem or not but I have a "similiar" problem when moving from one computer to another. Whenever I work on one file, save the site folder to my portable HD and move to a second computer I get tons of Javascript errors whenever I open the HTML file. The page seems to work fine after clicking ok a dozen times but it does concern me some. To make matters worse, one PC is Windows and the other is Mac. I think a little explanation from the support staff on how to move effectively from one pc to another would be very helpful so that we all do it the correct way without damaging any of our files.

Hello Dave,

Do you open the files on the second computer directly from the portable HD or do you copy the site to the second computer first?

I try to use the portable as a backup incase something goes wrong. So I copy the folder to the desktop of each PC. I realize the file structure of a PC and Mac are different and this can cause reference problems for the site but even when I tried to work directly from the portable I had the same problem; likely because each PC still sees the portable as a different drive "letter" (F: in the case on the PC and volume/freeagent... for the Mac)

I mispoke myself.... it is not Javascript errors but rather CSS errors...
If I had to guess I'd say it's because I save the layouts in the library and then move to another computer where that library template does not exist. As I mentioned, it seems to load into DW fine with the exception of my CSS menu which normally has the CSS image showing that it's a menu object stripped away and just shows the divs. I saved a couple screen shots I can email you if you'd like.

On a seperate note whenever I put a flexi-panel within a FLexi-layout div the panel always shows up to the far right in DW. Can you explain to me or point me to the link that explains how to use Flexi-panel in conjunction with Flexi-Layout? I don't want to hijack Brads thread so if need be I will post a new thread regarding these issues. Thanks for your help Andrei.

Hello Dave,

Please send me the screenhots that you mentioned by email at support at extendstudio.com.

I think that, as you said, its a problem regarding the folder structure of the website on each computer. If the same folder structure is preserved and the site is recreated inside DW on the other computer, no problems should occur. I actually just tried this a few minutes ago.

You should update the Flexi CSS Layouts extension. It was a glitch in earlier versions that made DW to move the panel to the right.

I'm going to try and do the updating remotely through dreamweaver first and just use the HD as a backup for now and see if that takes care of it; I think it will. If not I"ll send you the screnshots.

The plugin version I have is 1.2.0 and the download center says that's the latest so is there something else that may be going on?

Hello Dave,

I was referring to the Flexi CSS Layouts extension not FlexiPanels when I asked you to update. Check your account for the current version of CSS Layouts.

You did not send any screenshots by email. It worked?
