Hi - I'm back.rnrnI have a gigantic problem (not for U I hope):rnI have a dynamic tabbed menu that doesn't show up in IE7 or IE8 - at all.rnrnI tried to remove all items, tags, CSS and other scripts than needed from the page except the menu. rnThe result was a blank page - nothing!!rnrnThe dynamic menu is built from a php recordset as described in the documentation and works perfectly in Safari, Mozilla Firefox (PC and Mac both).rnrnI then tried making a new blank php-page and inserted a tabbed menu (non-dynamic) and this one showed up in IE - rather slow though - but showed.rnrnAny fantastic great ideas to me?rnKnown hidden bugs?rnrnCan't wait to get an opnion.rnrnRegards, rnTorben

Hi - I'm back.

I've inserted a tabbed dynamic menu (PHP) and everything works OK in Safari, Mozilla Firefox (both PC and Mac).
BUT in IE7 and IE8 the menu is not showing - at all. Totally vanished into thin air!!

I then tried removing all tags, CSS and scripts so that only the menu was on the page.
The result: A blank page - totally blank - no menu in IE.

I then made a new blank php page and inserted a NON-dynamic tabbed menu.
This time the menu showed up - rather slow function menu - but it showed.

Any known issues or bugs?

Can't wait to get some fantastic feedback.

Testsite uploaded here:
http://www.altandesign.adirect.dk/index.php

The menu 'Altandrømme' is the only active button - but if U use IE, U can't see it ;-)))

Any gold advice?

Torben

Hello Torben,

Besides the fact that the menu is a little slower on IE there aren't any other incompatibility issues that we know of. I made a test page with only a dynamic tabbed menu on it and checked it on IE 7 and it seems to work fine.

I think that the menu doesn't work on your page because of the incompatibility between jQuery and Prototype. I've researched a little on the internet and saw that jQuery has done some modifications to make the two to work together. And it should work if you load jQuery first on the page, like you do. However, I don't think these modifications work on IE. I've found a blog post where somebody made a test page where he had jQuery and Prototype. It seems to work ok on all the browsers except for IE. You can check the page here: http://ralphwhitbeck.com/2009/01/24/jQueryVsPrototypeAndJQuerynoConflict.aspx

Could you also give us a link to the page where you have only FlexiMenus and you said that it's not working?

If you want to use jQuery on the website, we can make a license change to Creative Menus instead.

Hi Andrei.
You're right in that using jQuery did create conflict, but was solved by loading jQuery first and then by using the jQuery prefix instead og the $.

I already have a Creative Menus license, but wanted avoid the Flash aspect due to the chosen segment of the target audience.
This menu does build it's skin from SWF-files, doesn't it?

Lastly: I FOUND THE BUG - YEAH!
After writing you I kept on trying. I made a completely new doc an inserted an other standard menu - and everything worked?
After go back and forth many times, I finally found, that everything was working in IE by NOT enebling the "Use spacer" option in the UI dialog.

I really liked those spacers to visually enhance the buttondivisions, but I guess I have to live without them, if I want to use the FlexiMenu.

Maybe you can provide a solution for this bug?

Hello Torben,

First of all thank you for reporting this. This has been retested by our testing team and they've managed to reproduce it.

We will fix it in the next product update. We will also check more into the jQuery and Prototype conflict and maybe post a tutorial with a solution.

Kind regards,
Andrei Rinciog
