My menu is working, but there is an element on the screen that appears in front of the dropdown portion of the menu.

The existing element's z-index is 0.

I would think if I could set the z-index of the dropdown menu to anything larger, it would appear in front of the element, yes?

Any advice?

Thanks!

Hi,

The menu can be inserted in a wrapper div and then set a high z-index value on that div.

Hi! I'm testing out FlexiMenus JS and the menu works fine. I really like that you can display images and other html-elements in the menu. But I wonder why you can't change color on the themes? I have the same problem with the z-index: I've inserted a tabbed menu, and the submenu and levels under disappear behind an iframe that opens with different videoes and slideshows when clicking on the links in that menu. I've tried different ways to set higher z-index for the menu and a z-index of "0" for the iframe, but nothing works. Is there something different with iframes compared to other elements?

Thanks!

Hello,

I don't know if the iframe is the problem or its content. From what I understand you have some swf objects inside those pages. Do you have wmode transparent on them? Here are some instructions on how you can set it if you haven't already: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14201.html

If that's not the problem, please send me a link to your page or send a copy and some screenshots to support at extendstudio.com.

Hey Andrei!

I got a link to another website where I have used Creative DW dropdown menus - (haven`t bought the FlexiMenu yet):
http://www.hector.graphicreference.net/index2.html The problem is the same: the picture of the cave in the middle is in an iframe. And when starting a video from the dropdown-menu on the left, - (the second sublevel !) - it will open in that iframe. Then, when the video are running, check the second sublevel in the video-menu. It`s behind the iframe. I tried to fix it with
a CSS-rule with z-index 3 and used it for the iframe, and the same with a z-index of 0 for the menu. But no luck. Maybe I did something wrong code-wise and that`s why it`s not working. I`m not a newbie when it comes to html/CSS-coding, but I`m not super-skilled either. So maybe I wrote some bad code somehwere. I have solved the problem by sliding the second sublevel in the video-menu to the left, outside the iframe: http://www.hector.graphicreference.net

The problem is surely not related to the menus themselves, they work fine. It`s probarbly a html coding-issue. So i appriciate that you are taking the time to help solving this.

Thnx again

OOOPPS !

I ment z-index 0 for the iframe, and z-index 3 for the menu.
Of course !!!

Sorry about that!

Hello again Jan,

I don't think this problem is caused by the iframe. On the home page everything works just fine and you have an iframe there as well. I think the divx player is causing this problem. I cheked its online documentation and I couldn't find any embedd parameter similar to 'wmode=transparent' from the Flash Player. Because of this you can't display anything on top of it.

Check their support forums or maybe even ask their support department if there is anyway you can display something on top of the player.

Thnx so much, Andrei !
Tried to load another file than the divx and the flashcontent (the slideshows) in the iframe, and everything worked fine. I also loaded a flashfile (a small slideshow that I made with Flashscroller) into the iframe and sat the value to transparent, and that also worked fine. But I still have the problem with the slideshows I use - the JWSlideshow Rotator - when loaded into the iframe. I'm not shure it's possible to set the wmode to transparent for them. I can't find any way to select the swf in the html-file that I put the slideshow in.
To avoid the problem all together, it's probarbly easiest to set the sublevels outside the iframe.
I will write to the divx support guys and ask them about the transparent mode that exist for flashfiles, and if it's a similar way to code the divx player. I've checked their support forum but didn't find anything yet.

I have now tested the FlexiMenus JS for DW, and I think the extension is great. To add images and other elements in the menu, and the possibility to add unlimited numbers of submenus/levels, are one of the best features. And if you just could decide yourself what color to use on the levels, I would have bought it in a heartbeat. Yes, I did find a menu where the toplevel color did match the setup, graphics and colors on the webpage. But the colors on the submenus did not match at all, so I could not use it anyway. Why did you guys make it like that? I think that the possibility to change colors are the most important feature! So I have to use the Creative DW Menu for now. Or do you have a tip for another menuextension with the same features like the FlexiMenu, that also have the ability to change the skincolors?

Thnx

Hello Jan,

We will bring back the ability to change skin colors and create new skins in future versions. The only way to change colors at the moment is by manually editing the skin files. But that's a bit more work from your part.

Tell me if you need more help with the iframe problem.

I don't know other extension out there that knows to do what FlexiMenus JS can do. Check our future newsletters though ;)
