Before attempting to insert an Image Show (using Dreamweaver), I had already used two different Extend Studio flash menus on a page. When I try to insert the Image Show, these menus freak out and go all haywire. Compatibility issue?

Hello,

We have made many compatibility tests between all our products, so they must work together.

A link to your page would help a lot.

Here is the live website -- note use of two different kinds of Extend flash menus, vertical at left and drop-down navigation bar at top.
http://www.nctc.edu
Here is a trial of the same page (both done in Dreamweaver) with the Image Show inserted near bottom right, all default settings with a few sample photos.

This also happens if I attempt to insert a FlexiMenu JS along with the (Creative) flash menus.

Hello again,

Why doesn't the second page have any <html> tag ? I think this is what's ruining the rendering of the menus.

Andrei

Sorry, I don't know what you mean. I saved the second page as an exact duplicate of the live page, merely gave it a different name, then added the additional Image Show. Changed nothing else.

Hi,

This part was missing when I first looked:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

Now the page has that, but you've comented about all the page. Also, you are still missing a <body> tag.

Andrei

Please understand that I am not deleting any tags or other code. It is the act of inserting the Image Show (and/or Flexi Menu) on a page that already has the Creative flash menus that causes these tags to go away. I insert the additional menu and immediately the tags you speak of disappear, the menus fail to render and so on. Is there some kind of conflict going on in Dreamweaver with the includes?

I have even started from a fresh page, no other content. When I try to insert more than one kind of your menus (except for the ones that came in the original package I bought, the Creative Menus), the same thing happens.

Could it have anything to do with javascript?

Hi,

I've just went to this page http://www.nctc.edu/indexRB.html again.

This time it doesn't work at all. You have a comment that includes the <body> tag and that's what I think its ruining it.

Also, it seems like you don't have anything at the end of your page.

There isn't no way for the javascript to delete or move parts from your HTML code. Please tell me your workflow for creating that page.

Andrei

I just upgraded from Dreamweaver CS3 to CS4 -- now when I try to edit my Extend menus, I'm instructed by DW to delete my Cache File before using the menus. When I do this, the menus are disabled in Adobe Extension Manager. When I re-enable, I get same instruction to delete file cache. When I try to bypass this and edit menus, Dreamweaver crashes.

Hello Rodger,

I think that you are deleting the entire configuration folder instead of just the file cache.dat file and that's why the menu is disabled in the Extension Manager. You can ignore that message if you already deleted the cache once after installation. You have a "don't show this again" option in the left corner.

However, it should not crash or give you any errors if you cleared that folder. Do you receive any errors before the crash ?

Andrei

Also, any editing of the Image Show causes the html tag to disappear again and menus go crazy and items on the page duplicate.

Hello,

Frank, your page has some HTML errors on it that may cause the problems with the extension I gave you more info by email. Delete those lines of code and try to update the banner again.

I've asked you above Sean if its posible to do a desktop sharing session. If your page doesn't have any HTML errors, it's very possible that there is a local problem on your computer.

Hi Andrei,

I received your email and changed the few lines of code.... unfortunately, this didn't make a difference. It seems that whenever I update the banner it deletes all the code that was before it. I tried copying and pasting my code back in but then the banner doesn't work. It just stays on the first image.

I really appreciate your help in this situation! I need the banner to work again!

Thanks, Frank
