Using the latest Flash Player 10.0.32.18, the browser will crash immediately once the Scroller appears on the stage.rnrnThis a major problem, when can we expect an update?

Some more details:

Crash only occurs when attaching scrollbar through actionscript, the line that causes it is: this.attachMovie("Creative Scrollbar", "scroller", 20, vscrollbarObj);

Basically as soon as you try and add an instance of Creative Scrollbar...

Attempting to place an instance on stage, and use duplicateMovieClip to create a dynamic instance also causes the crash...

Hi Shawn

I posted this earlier this morning but i tought you might like to know....

I tried combining the "Creative Scroll Area" Component with the "Creative Scrollbar" Component Instead of using the "Creative Classic Scroller" component that does it all at once.

Created a movieclip and attached "Creative Scroll Area" to it.... then i dragged "Creative Scrollbar", linked it correctly as explained in the help link, published to player 8-9 and 10 and it doesn't crash IE or Firefox

By doing this way, the browsers doesn't crash. I can achieve the same results but it means i have to redo all my pages with a scrollbar ... For me this the way i will go since i can't wait too long.

Hello guys,

Sorry for this issue that has arisen, it took us a little by surprise. We will fix the problem before Monday morning. I will post a message on the forum as soon as the updated package it is available.

Martin is correct, only the Classic Scroller crashes the browser. If you use the Creative Scroll Area and Creative Scrollbar no problem occurs. If you need this fixed before Monday, I recommend you to replace your scroller with the other two components. The usage of areas and scroll bars it’s pretty straight forward, but here’s a link to a usage tutorial in case you need some help: http://www.extendstudio.com/documentation/creative-flash-scroller/documentation/tutorials/how-to-create-an-unconventional-scroller.html

No, this is incorrect.

Trying to use the Creative Scrollbar through dynamic instanciation also causes the problem, the scrollbar only works when you manually place it on the stage. This is not an option for us...

We anxiously await the update with over 40 sites schedule for an update on Monday morning.

Hello,

I have several sites using this 'Creative Classic Scroller' and don't have too much time to modify them.

What do I need to do to stop the browser crashing when using any browsers with Latest FLash Plugin?

What is the easiest and quickest way to fix this problem??

Thanks

Hi, please let us know WHEN a new fix will be out. This is causing us some serious repercussions. We have deployed the scroller to a number of sites and this is very bad news because some clients they access their site daily.

Please get this fixed ASAP.

Hi,

We have released version 1.0.2 that fixes the Firefox crash. Please go ahead and download it from the account. Just to make sure, remove the old license and reset the license before installing the new version.

Thanks everybody for helping us locate the issue!

I am still having this problem.

How do you remove the old license? And reset the license?

Hello,

Delete the package from your account again. Then, open the Extension Manager and remove the version that you have installed. After the component is removed, double click on the mxp from the package to install the current version.

Sorry this is still not working.

What do you mean when you say "delete the package from your account again."

So far I have followed this procedure.

Thrown away the folder called Creative Flash Scroller from my computer
Shut down Flash
Opened the extensions manager and deleted Creative Flash Scroller.
Logged on to your site
Clicked reset license
downloaded a new Creative Flash Scroller
Clicked on the mxp package and installed

After this I experience the same problem.

regards
Glenn

Hello again Glenn,

I made a mistake in the previous post. I mean "download the package". Sorry for that.

After you do all those steps, open your FLA and drag and drop the Scroller component from the components panel in the library of the document. It will ask you to replace the existing one from the library, click "replace".

This should be final step. Try the swf now.

Andrei
