Hi,

I bought the creative flash scroller extension and got it to work and everyhting. Cool scroller !

Just one big problem... it crashes firefox everytime it opens a page with a scroller in it.
But here's the weird thing about all this. When i look at it on my 64 bit windows XP it works... but on my normal XP it crashes.

My flash is made from a bunch of layered swf. Tried it loading just one with a scoller and it still crashes in Firefox. Right now i published to 10 but tried publishing to player 8 and it still crashes... I also did a test with a new flash file, made a real simple paragraph, dragged the component, published it and it still crashes Firefox

Here's the link to the swf, it's in french, just hit the last blue button and that page has a scroller in it, so does the second one :
http://www.impulsionmedia.com/client/pendule/

I need to use firefox only... because this layout is for an Interactive display and i use a popup script to load external HTML pages... bla bla bla..... etc....

It works fine in IE...

Hi Martin,

I’ve tested your page on two computers and it did not crash the browser. I think that is something related to your computer only. It’s pretty weird though, it’s just a swf and it should run the same way on all the browsers. Maybe there is a problem with the Flash Player you have installed ?

Also, I see on your page that you are loading the swf using ShadowBox. I don’t know exactly how ShadowBox works (never used it). If the crashing persists, could you try to embed the swf without ShadowBox?

Andrei

Hi Andrei,

Thanks for your fast response

it's not related to my pc only.... my client called in to tell me about the bug and i tested it on a another pc here and it crashed too... i think its weird also !!!

this simple plain page also crashes my browser :
http://www.impulsionmedia.com/client/pendule/test8.html

no special script there. and it also crashes my client latest firefox (firefox 3.5.2) equipped with the latest flash player (10 release 32)...

it has something to do with firefox i'm pretty sure. My version that doesn't crash is on Firefox 3.0.13 and the flash player is 10 release 22

seems to me that as more user get the latest versions, you will have problems with Firefox. And since i have a windows xp 64 bit system, my updates take a bit more time to come out. That's my guess as to why this firefox doesn't crash.

I'm pretty bummed out as to what i can do. It just crashes the pages with the scroller.

Please help me !!!

Hi Again Andrei !

Bad news....

I installed the latest flash player (Version10 release 32) on my "non-crashing" Firefox (3.0.13) and now it crashes my page and my simple test page
http://www.impulsionmedia.com/client/pendule/test8.html

I don't get it cause when i look at your samples it doesn't crash !!!

God i hate these "phantom" bugs hidden in the layered depths of hellish scripts!!!

Hi,

We have released version 1.0.2 that fixes the Firefox crash. Please go ahead and download it from the account. Just to make sure, remove the old license and reset the license before installing the new version.

Thanks everybody for helping us locate the issue!
