For the most part the menus were working fine for a long time but now for some reason they are not working in IE7 properly. Here is a link to a page the drop downs aren't working at all

http://silverbrookestates.com/pages/maps/creekside_south.cfm

and I've noticed that sometimes not all of the time the submenu flyouts aren't working on different pages at different times and then they seem to work fine after refreshing the page.
I've also seen sporadic behavior in FireFox but not as often.

Hello Joe,

I saw that you have on your page some javascript for your images. In those functions you have some variables that may conflict with the menus rendering script. Try renaming all the variables in those functions. For example, you could rename variable "x" with "mm_x". Probably isn't a big conflict, as the menus work on other browsers, but IE is more sensitive to these kind of errors.

Andrei

Hi Andrei,
First you need to change your forum so if your not logged in you don't have the option to add to a post so you don't spend 10 min. writing a post just to have it disappear when you hit the add button and are then taken to the login page and have to start all over again.
Second, I'm sorry but you will need to be much more specific in which variables need to be changed, I don't write javascript and rely on DW to do it for me.
Third, you never answered my question in the first post, why after over a year am I now having problems with the menus, and as stated in the first post I am having problems with the menu in FireFox, on some pages if I do anything like scroll the page or rollover a swap image the menu stops working and I have to refresh before it work again.
Honestly I need a lot more support from Extend then I'm getting, the 24 hour response time and the problems I'm having now with the menu is going to cost me one of my better clients.

Hello again Joe,

The scroll problem that you are reporting on Firefox are fixed in the latest package that we have on our server. Please download the package and reinstall it to update the menu.

About the IE 7 problem, on my computer the submenus work ok. I thought that the problem was related to those javascript variables because they are the ones usually causing problems on IE. IE is more sensible to javascript problems and probably that’s the case here. If you want I can rewrite those functions for you so there won’t be any conflicting variables. In the first I was referring at all the variables (x,d,i,j) just to make sure that we don’t have any conflict anymore.

I understand that you need support as fast as possible and we try to deliver it. But, you’ll also have to understand that you are not the only client with problems that also need fast resolutions.

Tell me if you want me to rename those variables for you.

Hi Andrei,
Thank you for getting back quickly, sorry about my frustration, so I downloaded the latest version and that seems to have taken care of the problems in FireFox and yes I would really appreciate if you would rename the variables for me.

Thanks,

Joe

Hello again Joe,

Actually, I don't think that variables are causing the problem with the submenus in IE 7. I kept trying to receive a javascript error while on the site, moving through various pages and no javascript error ever occurred. However, I’ve noticed that the pages that don’t function correctly have a strange code on them. They have two <body> tags and they start with some javascript functions. You need to have on the topmost line of your html the doctype declaration, or else the browser will not interpret the page using that doctype. I think this is the reason why the submenus are not appearing. Please fix those pages and put the doctype declaration on their first line. This is one of the pages I refer to: http://silverbrookestates.com/pages/amenities/parks.cfm

Hi Andrei,
Well I owe you a huge apology and thank you. First it locks like the only problem I was having was with FireFox which was fixed with installing the latest version, all of the IE7 problems were caused by bad code on my part which occurred with recent updates. Thank you so much for your help in taking the time to find some of those errors.

Thank you again!

Joe
