I am having some big problems as I need to update my menu on all my pages from a main Template page. I am in the process of redesigning my website and I have placed my menu in an editable region of the template. When I test it out to see if it will work right, I click the update all pages box and when I click OK, a get a message that reads "Making this change would require changing code that is locked by a template or a translator. The change will be discarded.
Can someone please help me out? I have tried some different things, but nothing is working.
Thanks,
John

Stupid me. I had the menu in a non-editable region. I moved it to the editable region it was supposed to be in and it worked like a charm.

Andrei: I am having the same trouble, but having the menu in an editable region doesn't solve the problem. The web site is www.yankee-lake.org I created the vertical menu in an editable region of my template, but changing the menu with "update all pages" checked doesn't update the menu to all pages linked to the template. If you look at the site, try the Galleries menu to see an example of this.
If it's not possible for the same menu that is used across multiple pages created using a template, to be updated in the way I am trying to do it, please let me know the simplest way to keep my menus synchronized as I update them. Thanks!

Hello Brad,
There are a couple of things I don't understand.
You inserted the menu inside the template in a editable region or inside the pages that use the template.
If you need the menu on all the pages, why not place the menu inside the template and update it using the template rather than using the "update in all pages" feature.
Tell me what you are trying to do and how you set it up until now.

Andrei: Thanks for the quick response. I think my problem is that I haven't been using the extension properly. I initially created a layout that would represent the majority of my pages, then I made that a template (.dwt) inDW CS3, making sure the menu was in an editable region. However, when I subsequently needed to modify the menu, I did not return to the template to make the changes. Instead, whatever page I was on, I brought up the "Edit Vertical Menu" window and made the changes there. I had thought clicking the "update in all pages" would then take care of it. Sounds like that was incorrect.
So, now that I have menus on various pages that are out of synch, what should I do to correct the problem. Thanks for you help!

Hello Brad,
The menu probably lost track of the pages it's inserted on.
Do you have the latest version installed? We inserted a new feature in the latest package that discovers the pages where the menu was inserted and it should make the update process work afterwards.
However, the simplest way to resolve the problem now I think its to make use of the dwt. You want the menu to be available on all the pages? If you do, then remove the menu from the editable region and put directly in the template. Make the modifications to it and then update all the pages that are based on the template.
