sorry about adding this to a related post by mistake - I have now made it a new thread - ignore my reply to another post with the same content.
I'm using version 1.5.0 in DW CS3 - Windows 2000 prof.
I added a menu to a page just fine but when I go to insert it into another page it says, "no menu to insert" and there is no choice of my Menu1.
I got frustrated and tried manually adding the menu to a few pages - if I make a change to one menu and check off the "update all pages" it doesn't update the other pages.
I thought of using the menu as a library item; but I'd rather use the functionality it's suppose to have - the site is going to be rather large.
Any clues to the problem?
I'll include the link to the site in progress. Let me know what else you will need to diagnose.

Hello Robyn,
There are different methods to copy an existing menu and they need to be used according the situation.
First method you may think of is to copy/paste the html code from one page to another. We dont recommend this method because the function Update in all pages? will fail and so you wont be able to manage effectively your menu across the website (when you use the Insert Existing Menu?, Edit Menu? or Add Menu? buttons the menu will keep track of the pages that it is placed in). However, if you use this method be careful to do one more step click on the EDIT MENU + OK. If you copy the menu from Dreamweaver Website please be careful to copy the includes? folder also. This folder is created automatically by the extension in the root of your website ad contains scripts, skins etc.
Another method that you may use is Insert Existing Menu?. This method works only if in the current DW Website you have created a menu in one page and you want to insert it in all html pages without changing the parameters. Insert Existing Menu knows only the menus from the current website, otherwise you will receive an error. (Recommended method for copying a menu from the same DW Site).
If you want to copy a menu from another website you have to first save it as a preset and then go to the new page. Here click on the ADD Menu?, go to the Presets Tab and Load the Preset with or without the menu structure, and thats it.. (Recommended method for copying a menu from another DW Site).
I hope that this clears your problems, if not, feel free to contact us at any time.
Kind regards,
Lavinia Iancu

Thank you for your response. However, I never wanted to copy and paste the menu - I resorted to that out of desperation and see how it fails.
I wanted to use the "Insert Existing Menu" function in the first place - So, I made my menu on one page, saved the page. Opened another page, clicked "Insert Existing Menu" and the pull down tab says, "There is no menu to insert."
Do you know what issues could cause this so I could try to figure it out?
I'm about to remove all traces of the menu from everything in that directory and start fresh - maybe that will clear it up. I'd hate to start from scratch again; but something isn't talking to something else.
Thanks.

Hello Robyn,
Please make sure that the page in which you insert the existing menu is in the same site. I have looked at the link you sent and noticed that the menu is in all the pages now. Have resolved the problem?
Kind regards,

I wish I had fixed it - those are my cut and paste menus that won't update sitewide. All of the pages were in the same site/ same folder.
If you don't have any one idea of the issue, I'm going to start with a clean slate before the site gets any larger...
I mistakenly unsubscribed myself from the thread - I didn't read and clicked the link thinking it would take me to the forum....ooops. I will check the forum for a reply.
