The menu works fine in live mode and in FireFox, but whe using IE the drop down menu's are not visible. I have tied putting the menu on a layer with the z-Index set to 5, I have moved the layer below the menu further down and assured it had a low (-1) Z-Index, but the sub menu's are not visible under IE. Here is a link to the Demo Site.

Hello Krys,

The link that you've sent is not working. I've sent you an email in which I explain that the problem is caused by a missing doctype declaration. Please try that and then tell me the result.

I am still having a problem with the drop down menu not showing, the only way I have been able to get the drop dow to show on IE was to remove the doctype altogether from the page. Without the doctype the dropdown menu shows in MOST versions of IE, the earlier version of IE 8 on my lap top will not show the dropdown, but the later version of IE 8 on my test machine handles it just fine, however I do NOT want to publish a web site without a doctype. These are the doctypes I have tried:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN"

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Frameset//EN"

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Frameset//EN"

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN"

Hello Krys,

The menus should work with the doctype declarations that you've enumerated. It means that something else is causing the menu not to work so you can put the doctype declaration back.

I saw that you have many CSS code in head of the page. Please make sure that this is not a CSS problem by deleting all that code and then trying again.

Tell me when you put the site with the doctype back online and I can help you find the problem.

Andrei, I put the CSS information in an external CSS style page. The menu works on my desk top machine running IE 8.0.601 18702, however it doesn't work with the exact same version on my lap top. It also works on my Vista Machine running IE 8.0.6001 18828. Any ideas?

What a dunce, Compatibility View was checked on the lap top (it was given to me by the Region a few days ago) The drop down menu won't display if compatability view is checked. It seems to be working fine now.

Daba, I never got the Extend drop down menu to work on all browsers. I finally deleted them all and went with
http://f-source.com/
Their menu is user friendly and works with everything.

Hello guys,

Kris, our menus have been tested on all major browsers available over the years and they are working on all of them. Even on IE in compatibility view. I don't know what exactly happened on the page but it was probably a javascript conflict with other scripts from the page.

I think its the same thing in Dana's page. I will investigate it further and see if I find the source.
Dana, I've noticed that you are not using the latest version of the extension. You should make an update when you have time. You can download the latest version from your account.

Kind regards,

Thanks Andrei, I just downloaded the latest version and I saw in the code it looks like a bunch of stuff ended up in the 'head' area......?? Will try again, let me know what your thoughts are after more investigation. Thanks again.

Hello,

Dana, what's the status of your problem? Has it been resolved?

Nancy, you are using an old version of the extensions that conflicts with the script used for the Flash movie. Please download and install the latest package from your account.

Daniel, I've given you a reply on the thread you've just opened. We will continue the discussion there.

Kind regards to all,
Andrei Rinciog

Turns out that that IE 8 users only need to click the compatibility button next to the URL bar and the menus work fine.

Hi,

It appears that I am having the same issues as above with my menus not working in IE 8 (they work fine in Firefox and Safari). I have made sure that I am not in compatibility mode though all that is displayed is text and then it is hidden behind an image. I am not overly familiar with scripts and coding - could you please provide me with assistance? The address is:

Hello,

In my IE 8 the menu works fine. Have you made any changes to the page and fixed the problem?

Probably it's a z-index issue. Place a higher z-index value on the table that holds the menu than the table that holds the image.
