I bought this product for the exclusive purpose of building a photo slide show as quickly as possible, instead of creating a manual one in Flash.

If I have all my photos sized correctly and ready to go, to have transitions added to them between each one, what do I do next? I have no idea how I would tell this component to transition each of my images. Thanks!

Hello Mike,

In order to create a slideshow using Creative MovieFX, the first step is to convert the images into MovieClips.

After doing this, the second step is to add two instances of the Creative MovieFX , one for the "in" effect, and the other for the "out" effect (which can be obtained by selecting "Reverse" in the Behavior field, in the Component Inspector.

The first two steps will afterwards be applied to all the pictures you want to include in the slideshow. Here are two tutorials on how to create a chain between the movieclips (timeline and behavior):

http://www.extendstudio.com/documentation/creative-moviefx/tutorials/how-to-create-a-chain-effect-(timeline).html

http://www.extendstudio.com/documentation/creative-moviefx/tutorials/how-to-create-a-chain-effect-(behaviors).html

I hope you find this information useful. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us and we will assist you.

Kind regards,

Thank you, Lavinia. The problem with these solutions are it requires me to have to resize each photo, make a movie clip out of each one, and then apply all the effects. This is extremely time consuming, when there are other solutions out there, one I bought in the interim, that auto resize your photos, and put them right into a SWF file that you can use loadmovie with.

I also don't see how you could do multiple photos in a slideshow with the behaviors technique, only the timeline, which would be very time consuming.

I hope Extend comes up with a better and faster solution for photo slideshows soon, because I could really use it, and I would have preferred to use your extension for this type of task, but it appears to be too time consuming for the results. It appears that the Extend extension only offers additional transition effects over the standard Flash offerings, and the industry typically looks at showy transitions as cheesy. All I need is a soft dissolve between multiple photos, done quickly and easily.

Hello Mike,

The Creative MovieFX's main use-case is not the creation of slideshows, this is why you might find it a bit time consuming to create a slideshow using this component. However, it does save some time with the in and out effects.

Another product with which you can create a slideshow in Flash is the Creative Flash Scroller, but this component is also not made specially for this purpose. Here is a tutorial on how to create a slideshow using the scroller:

http://www.extendstudio.com/documentation/creative-flash-scroller/tutorials/how-to-create-a-slideshow-using-scroll-area.html

If you are also using Dreamweaver, you can try the Creative Image Show, which has the main purpose of creating slideshows.

Thank you for your understanding.

Kind regards,

I just found a slideshow Flash component solution that works very similar to your products' architecture, instead of a separate software, like I was using prior. I highly recommend you get into this market. Had you had a slideshow product for Flash, I would've purchased it immediately. Thank you!

ok i think we have a bit trouble with movie fx creation of slide shows. it is not that much time consuming, only thing is that we have to know exactly how to do it. i have created the slideshow..pls check it out on http://www.khushitravel.co.uk the site is under construction and the pictures used in the three slideshows at the bottom of the page are only for demo purpose.it was really easy but we have to know flash also a little bit.
create the 3 layers if the slide show is for 3 pictures. then set the fps to 30. (you can use any rate u want but it should be propotional to what frames you are inserting for your keyframes)
now drop the first picture on frame 1 of layer 1 , drop the 2nd picture on frame 90 of layer 2 and similarly the third picture goes on frame 180 of layer3.
select the frame 270 for all the layers and drop a keyframe there.
you have to do this before you drop movie fx instances on stage otherwise it will give you an error.
now select the first frame in layer 1 and drop the movie fx instance there and configure the in out and wait effects for 30 frames each. disable the delay option. save this preset for saving time lateron.
now go to frame 90 on second layer and drop the instance of movie fx.(pls lock all other layers because i find it annoying when the instance goes on third layer....hope you understand)
configure the in out and wait effects for the same 30 frmaes each or if you have saved a preset, just use it and it should be fine.
now go to frame 180 of third layer and do the same
ctr+enter and you are a happy man

Tnx.
But, I'm not happy yet
animation is going nice from start to the and, but wen it starts from frame1 aggain i have this error massage:
internalId = 3 [class ComponentMovieFX] Error: You may not have multiple MovieFX instances with the same name. Please rename the duplicates.

Resolve this, and make me happy man.

I have no multiple MovieFX instances with the same name. I checked 100 times

Can you send me your animation to see how you did it, or can I send you mine, for you to fix it
komal

yes sure send me the fla file on this email address
computerselection@gmx.co.uk

and by the way you have to give your movie instances a unique name in flash before inserting the movie fx instance. this way the movie fx wont give it an instance name rather it will use your instance name which you have given to the movie clip instance on the stage. name them differently on layer 1 frame 1 , layer 2 frame 90 and layer 3 frame 180. and pls check that all the movie fx instances are having the delay option disabled.
dont forget to put a keyframe on all the layers at frame 270 .

i would suggest you try the above and before doing that delete the layer of movie fx and the movie fx clip from libraries panel, check the above things and insert your instances of movie fx as stated above.
and yes one more thing, if you are not a happy man even after all this, then it will be better for you to ask a refund from extend studio, quit flash and buy a coffe cup flash movie maker......:)

Hello guys,

First of all, thanks for your help Komal, it is great to have this kind of users around here.

Well, you pretty much covered everything. I would only add that each instance of the component needs to created by drag and drop from the component list rather than copy pasting.
Also, that message is not exactly an error. It's only a warning and if the animation works properly, you can ignore them.

If you want, Miki, you can send us the FLA file as well. You can send it at support at extendstudio.com.

Kind regards,

The animation on this page http://www.brezovicaskiresort.com/ does seem a little sluggish.

Could you please send me a copy of the FLA to support at extendstudio.com and maybe I can help you to improve performance a little?

Hello again,

I exported the FLA file as you sent it and the animation seems to work better: http://www.extendstudio.com/test/corluka.html

The difference between my SWF and the one on your website is the snow. I think that you maybe added too many particles in that component and its causing the whole movie to run slower.

Hello again Miki,

The swf on that page doesn't load.

I think you can try to place the MovieFX component inside a container MovieClip and then use it to create the loop. Basically, when the animation is over, recreate the container MovieClip and the component inside.

You can use the destructor method of the MovieFX class to make sure you clean the stage before recreating it.

Hello Miki,

And I apologize for the late answer.
I have checked your slideshow examples and i think that the JQuery SlideshowPlus extension will fit better with your needs. I was wondering if you could start testing it and maybe I can switch you license if you think that the SlideshowPlus meets all your needs. Here ia a short overview: http://www.extendstudio.com/product/jquery-slideshow-dreamweaver.html
And here are some samples: http://www.extendstudio.com/jquery-slideshow-dreamweaver/samples.html

Just let me know what you decide!
