Configuring Chart Parameters > Data Plot

Data Plot refers to the plot of those values which have been classified as series. Each cell in our data table represents a plot-point in our various graphs.

Properties of the Data Plot can be configured from the 'Data Plot' panel. Some of the options listed in the 'Data Plot' panel, may be chart specific (i.e. they may be applicable only to certain charts). The ‘Data Plot’ panel displays only those chart specific options that are applicable to the currently selected chart.

Following configurable parameters are available in the 'Data Plot' panel:

useEnhancedGraphics: This parameter allows you to enhance the appearance of bar and column data plots. If this parameter is enabled - bar and column data plots will be displayed with rounded edges and glassy color effects.

showShadow: This parameter allows you to display data plots with a shadow effect.
showPlotBorder: Using this parameter you can display or hide the border of the data plot.

plotBorderColor: This parameter allows you to customize the color of the plot border.
use3DLightning: This parameter is applicable to pie and doughnut charts. By enabling this parameter you can impart a 3D light effect to pie and doughnut charts.
overlapColumns: This parameter is applicable to column charts, if this parameter is enabled - the gap between the columns will be eliminated. This parameter should be used when large quantities of data are represented on a single chart.
overlapBars: This parameter is applicable to bar charts, if this parameter is enabled - the gap between the bars will be eliminated. This parameter should be used when large quantities of data are represented on a single bar chart.
zDepth: This parameter allows you to specify the depth of the data plot in a 3D combination chart. The value has to be specified in terms of pixels.

zGap: This parameter allows you to specify the gap which separates two data plots in a 3D combination Chart. The value has to be specified in terms of pixels.

areaOverColumns: In a combination chart the area plot is displayed behind the column plot - by enabling 'areaOverColumns' parameter you can change the default behavior and display the area plot over the column plot.

Styles can be used to enhance the appearance of the data plots. Styles are defined in the 'Styles Definition' panel which can be opened using the 'DataPlot Styles Definition' button. Following are some examples of charts showing stylized data plots.

Advanced Parameters

If the 'Show advanced options' check box is selected - some additional parameters will be displayed in the 'Data Plot' panel.

Following advanced parameters are available in the 'Data Plot' panel:

plotBorderAlpha: Using this parameter you can set the alpha of the plot border.
plotBorderThickness: Using this parameter you can set the thickness of the plot border.
plotFillAlpha: Using this parameter you can set the alpha of the data plot's fill color.
