Configuring Chart Parameters > Labels and Values

Labels are those values which have been assigned to the chart as categories. Typically labels appear below the X-axis of the chart. In the following example, the text which appears below each column is the label associated with that column.

Properties of the labels and values can be configured from the 'Data Labels & Values' panel. Some of the options listed in the 'Labels & Values' panel are chart specific. The ‘Labels & Values' panel displays only those chart specific options that are applicable to currently selected charts  

Following configurable parameters are available in the 'Data Labels & Values'' panel:

• showLabels: This parameter allows you to display or hide the data labels.
• showValues: This parameter allows you to display or hide the data values.
• enableSmartLabels: Smart Labels are only applicable to pie and doughnut charts. Smart labels do not overlap even when the chart contains a lot of data. The 'enableSmartLabel' parameter helps you to enable or disable the smart labels feature.



Smart labels

• smartLineColor: Smart lines are the lines that join the smart labels to their corresponding regions on a pie or doughnut charts. The 'smartLineColor' parameter allows you to customize the color of smart lines.
• rotateLabels: This parameter allows you to display the data labels in rotated mode..

• rotateValues: This parameter allows you to display the data values in rotated mode.
• showValuesInside: By default data values are displayed outside the data plot, by turning on the 'showValuesInside' parameter you can display the data values on the data plot..

Advanced Parameters

If the 'Show advanced options' check box is selected - some additional parameters will be displayed in the 'Data Labels & Values' panel.

Following advanced parameters are available in the 'Data Labels & Values' panel:

• labelDisplay: This parameter allows you to choose a display mode for the data labels. To select a display mode - just click on the 'labelDisplay' button and select an option from the drop down list. FusionCharts provides three display modes: wrap, rotate, and stagger
• slantLabels: This parameter will work only when the 'rotateLabel' parameter is enabled or 'labelDisplay' parameter is set to 'rotate'. This parameter allows you to display the data labels in slanted fashion.



• staggerLines: This parameter can only be used if the 'labelDisplay' parameter is set to 'stagger'. When data labels are displayed in stagger mode they are distributed across multiple lines. The 'staggerLines' parameter allows you to specify the number of stagger lines.

• labelStep: Using this parameter you can display every n^th data label. So, if 'labelStep' is set to 3 in a chart containing 9 columns - then only first, fourth, and seventh data labels will be displayed.

Appearance of labels and values can be enhanced by using Styles. Styles can be defined in the 'Styles' panel which can be opened using the 'Styles Definition' button.
