Configuring Chart Parameters > Borders & Background

Background refers to the area on which all the chart elements such as canvas, labels, caption, axis names etc. are embedded.

Changes to the Background can be made from the 'Border & Backgrounds' panel located under the 'General Options' tab.

Following are the properties of the Background, which can be customized from the 'Border & Background' panel.

• Color

  You can either opt for a solid color or a gradient color for the background. The 'colorType' parameter lets you choose the nature of the background color. By default the 'colorType' is set to 'Simple Color' which signifies solid color. When the 'colorType' is changed to 'Gradient Color', a 'gradientEditor' will be displayed. The 'gradienEditor' is used for creating the gradient. More then one color can be added to the 'gradientEditor' and the range of each color can be configured graphically using the slider icons at the base of the 'gradeitnEditor'. The angle of the gradient can be specified in the 'bgAngle' field.

• Alpha

  The alpha or the transparency of the background can be configured in the 'bgAlpha' field. Alpha value must be specified in the range of 0 - 100. An alpha value of 0 will make the background completely transparent while an alpha value of 100 will render the background opaque.

• Border

  The chart background has a border which is hidden by default. The border can be displayed by turning on the 'showBorder' parameter. The 'BorderColor' parameter can be used for changing the color of the Border.

  The appearance of the background can be enhanced by defining appearance styles. Styles are defined in the 'Styles' panel which can be opened by clicking the 'Background Styles Definition' button.

Advanced Parameters

If the 'Show Advanced options check box' is selected - some additional parameters will be displayed in the 'Border & Backgrounds' panel. Following are the advanced configurable parameters that are available in the 'Borders & Backgrounds' panel:

• bgSWF: Using this parameter you can set an SWf file as the background for the chart. In order to use an SWF file as background just click on the 'Browse' button and locate the file. If the SWF file is not present wihtin the root directory, you will be prompted to save the file within the root directory.

• bgSWFAlpha: This parameter allows you to set the alpha of the background SWF.
• borderAlpha: This parameter allows you to set the alpha of the chart border.
• borderThickness: Using this parameter you can configure the thickness of the border line.
