In this tutorial we are going to create a nice chain effect together. We can do this in two methods – this one and by using the timeline. Generally, we prefer the one with the timeline actually, but maybe in some certain circumstances this could prove more efficient.

1. Firstly I would like to remind you to use the "How to install an extension tutorial", if you have any probems installing Creative Movie FX on your computer.
2. Let's start by creating a new file.

Create file
3. On a symbol placed in the center of the stage (make sure that it has integer coordinates!) we're going to apply two instances of Creative MovieFX. Place them so that they will not overlap each other – this way we'll have easy access to both of them. Don't forget to convert the entire ensemble to a movie clip.

Adding effects on the clip
4. Let's now configure the effects. The next screen-shots will show you how to do it:

Configuring the first effect

Configuring the second effect
Let me explain you for a bit what we did; firstly we applied the Wipe effect on the movie clip and let it go for 70 frames – that's 2 seconds on our 35 fps frame rate. The second effect is a bit more complex; it has a reverse behavior and a wait time of 105 frames. It also starts hidden so that it doesn't interfere. One thing on which you should be careful is that both effects apply o the same instance of the movie clip.
5. Please preview your file; it should show a chain effect (because we apply it on the same movie clip, it's also called sometimes Yo-Yo effect).
