How to create a menu (quick version)

In this tutorial I'm going to show you how to create a menu using the Creative FL Drop Down Menu component. As I was saying in the title, this is the really quick version, because I'm not going to place too much stress on details, I'll cover those later in other tutorials. For now, I just want to make sure you don't encounter any problems while creating the menu in Flash. In order to be able to do this tutorial, the first thing you have to do is install th Creative FL Drop Down Menu extension on your computer; if you encounter any problems doing that, check out the "How to install an extension" tutorial.

1. Open Flash and create a new file. (For CS3 users: in order to set-up the frame rate and name your file, right-click the stage and select "Document properties")

2. Open the Components panel and drag an instance of Creative Drop Down Menu on the stage. Let's align it at (0,0) coordinates (X,Y parameters in the Properties panel while the component from the stage is selected).

3. If you open the Component Inspector with the menu component selected you will see several panels from where you can configure the menu (General, Layout, Animations, Text). We're going to leave everything as it is now, but I'll show you later how to use each and everyone of them.

4. I think this is the most basic way how to create a new menu using our component. If you compare how long it takes to build one from scratch with the few minutes it took to do the tutorial you'll get an idea of the time you're going to save by using it. Let's take a final look at the stage:
