Upgrade procedure
In this section you can find the best practices for upgrading Creative DW Menus to the latest version.
Naming conventions:
- Old version or Designer Version => any Creative DW Menus version 1.5.3 or earlier
- Latest version: => version 1.7.x
- Developer Version => Creative DW
Menus, version 1.7.x that include server side language (PHP, ASP, ColdFusion)
Case 1: I have an older full version installed (Drop Down, Vertical, Tabbed or Creative Menu Pack(bundle) - Designer version) and would like to try the latest demo (Designer or Developer version)
The best way to test the new version (including the Developer version) is to delete the old extensions and install the new demo extensions. Demo extensions are available on site.
- Un-install the old version.
- Download and install the new .mxp files
from the site
- Close Dreamweaver and delete Dreamweaver Cache (see the Delete Dreamweaver Cache procedure)
- Start Dreamweaver and create a new site for testing
Note: You should not edit your old menus with the demo version, as this will turn your menus into demo menus
Restoring the old version
- Un-install the demo version
- Install the original .mxp files (contact us if you don't have them saved)
- Close Dreamweaver and delete Dreamweaver Cache (see the Delete Dreamweaver Cache procedure)
- Login to your account on www.ExtendStudio.com and reset the license
- Start Dreamweaver
Case 2: I have a full Designer version installed (Drop Down, Vertical, Tabbed or Creative Menu Pack(bundle)) and would like to install the latest Designer version or upgrade to Developer version
The best way to upgrade to the new version (including the Developer version) is to delete the old extensions and install the new versions:
- Un-install the old version.
- Download and install the new .mxp files
- Close Dreamweaver and delete Dreamweaver Cache (<a href="faq2.html#cache_procedure" target="_self">see the Delete Dreamweaver Cache procedure</a>)
- Start Dreamweaver
- To upgrade the old menus, click on Edit then on the OK button. You should repeat the operation for all the menus. Upload the files to the production server and the Includes folder
Note: If you have any special manual customizations performed by the Extend Studio or yourself on the files these will be lost. However, the upgrade does not affect the menu settings performed from the interface.
