With Universal AIR XML Generator you can rapidly and effortlessly create or update the XML, images and texts for your slideshows, galleries and banner rotators. It crops or scales all at once the images for thumbnails, full screen preview or default view, then automatically generates the XML for each image and uploads everything to the production server via FTP.

XML Settings Interface

In the XML settings interface you have the XML template; the XML code and the "tags". The tags will be replaced by the application with the values you have inserted in the fields for each image in the "Manage Images and Albums" interface.

If you use one of the embedded XML templates the XML will be prefilled with all the necessary elements. If you create a custom XML, you can add XML parameters (each parameter corresponds to a field in the Images and Albums interface) and define which section of the XML should be repeated for each image or album.

XML Publish folder

The location where you save the XML is important because depending on it, the path to the images will be different in the generated XML file. The default location is in the Publish folder where the images are saved by default. You should recreate the folder structure from your site at all times.

Using the embedded templates

If you are using one of the embedded templates you don't need to make any changes in this interface. You can Publish the project (this will resize the images and write the XML file) or Publish with FTP that will also upload the resized images and XML on the production server via FTP.

Creating your custom XML

Let's have a look at a XML and see how can it be turned into a template that the application will use to generate the slideshow XML for each image.

Repeating elements

In this sample XML, for each image we need to repeat the entire code between the <item> tags. This means we need to tell the application to repeat that section of the code: click above the <item> tag and in the right side of the screen look for the "Repeat tags"; double click on "Image repeater start". Then click below the </item> tag and from the right side of the interface click on "Image repeater end". This operation will mark the section to be repeated for each image.

In a similar way, if you have albums, beside the album tags you need to define the code section that will be repeated for each album.

Understanding tags

For each field in the Images and Albums or Image sets interfaces, there is a corresponding tag that can be inserted in the XML code; the tag will be replaced with the filled in value by the application when publishing the project. For example, for each image you have a title field and a description field:

and the corresponding tags in the XML tab that can be inserted in the XML code:
