If you're using one of the built in skins you can have the menu set up just by filling in the parameters on the General tab.
The other tabs will be automatically filled in with the default values for the selected skin. They contain more in depth customization parameters and you'll probably have no need to change them.
As you can see it has three main areas: one where you can set the Menu structure, one where you can configure the general parameters and one where you can choose the skin you want to use.

In the Menu Skin section you are asked to choose a skin from the drop-down list and define its style by changing the colors using the given color pickers. For both the menu and the submenu the user can set a main color and a highlight color (that will be used for the highlighted elements). Styling is applicable to all the built-in, but not for custom skins.
If you want to use your own skin, you will have to select the "Custom" option in the drop-down list and fill the name of your skin in the text filed. For more information about custom skins, please read the “Create a custom skin” help file.
Once the tab is filled in, the parameters from other tabs are filled with default values depending on the chosen skin.
